The perfect getaway from Addis Ababa is the Debre Libanos and the Blue Nile Gorge tour. Drive 110 kilometres north of Addis Ababa over the Entoto Mountains passing through the Sululta Plains, where you will certainly come across with Ethiopian runners training in this beautiful highlands. The first stop will be the Monastery of Debre Libanos, founded in the 13th century by Abune Tekle Haymanot. Overlooking the Jemma River Gorge, a tributary of the Blue Nile, this monastery houses ecclesiastical, cultural and historical relics, and boasts a rare grove of trees that have disappeared from elsewhere in the region.
On the way, you can also visit the 16th century bridge that is still used today and believed to have been built by the Portuguese. Stop by the Ethio German Park Hotel for lunch while admiring the views.
In the late afternoon, drive back to Addis Ababa in the late afternoon.

Itinerary
On arrival we will meet you at the airport then drive to north Ethiopia passing through the wonderful chain mountains and densely tree forest of Mount Entoto then after a two hours driving we will be arriving at one of the respected monastery of Ethiopia Debre Libanos is a monastery in Ethiopia which is lying northwest of Addis Ababa and it was Founded in the 13th century by Saint Tekle Haymanot we will visit the museums that have a lot of ancient bible books collection with religious crosses later we will see the internal parts of the church with the tombs of the founder of the monastery then we will have a 10 min hiking to the cave(served like a praying area for the founder of the monastery ST Tekle Haymanot) finally we will take you to the Portuguese Bridge lying at the Blue Nile George to see the wonderful landscapes and Ethiopian endemic baboons which is called the Chelada Baboon and you will have a chance of seeing Ethiopian Birds. In the evening attends a folkloric dinner where you will have a chance to taste several national dishes and watch dances of the various ethnic groups of Ethiopia. The traditional coffee ceremony will also be served. Later you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.
